DIG-Bulletin No. 2256 of January 15, 2026

News from DIG

As reported by Lother, DL1SBF mitteilte, our radio friend Alfred Schneider, DB1VQ, DIG 2336, passed away on Dezember 27 of last year at the age of 72. Alfred had been a member of DIG since 1978.
Dieter Pries, DK9QD, DIG 1647, joined DIG as early as late 1976. He soon earned the CW-Plaque and the DIG-Trophy. Dieter passed away in March of last year.
the names and callsigns of these radio friends must now be addes to the long list of our unforgettable DIG Silent Seys. We will keep them in honorable memory.

Upcoming Contest Dates (all times UTC)
Contests generally do not take place on WARC bands.

The Hungarian HA-DX-Contest will take place from Saturday, January 17, 1200 UTC, until Sunday, January 18, 1159 UTC, on the 160 m t0 19 m bands in CW and SSB.
The CW-part of the VFDB DLPX Contest, focusing in prefixes within Germany, will be held on Sunday, January 18, from 1500 to 1659 UTC on 80 m CW statt.

Activity Reports:

Milan, S58MU, DIG 3900, informed us that together with a team from Slovenia and Serbia, he will be active from January 18 to January 26 from the island of Lampedusa (African Italy), using the callsigns IG9ITO and IG9/homecalls.QSL via S5 Bureau.
7Q, Malawi:    Chris, ZS6RI, is currently active in Malawi using the callsign 7Q5C. He plans to stay there possibly until 2027. QSL via LoTW or ClubLog.
8Q, Maldives (AS-013):
Ji, DS1TUW, will be QRV from January 18 to January 24 as 8Q7JI from the Maldives.
Operation on 80 to 10 m, CW and FT8. QSL direct to DS1TUW or via LoTW.
FG, Guadeloupe:    F1DUZ will be active again as FG4KH from January 20 to February 10.
Operation on 80 to 10 m SSB. QSL via F1DUZ, direct or bureau, LoTW, QRZ, or eQSL.
PJ2, Curaçao:    W2APF will be QRV from January 22 until March 31 from Curaçao as PJ2/W2APF.Operation on 80 to 10 m, CW, SSB, and FT8. QSL direct via W2APF or LoTW.

All Orthodox Saints Award 2026
Short time award 01.01. bis 31.12.2026

The Bulgarian radio club Blagovestnik LZ1KCP will once again issue the well-known All Saints Award in 2026. Every two months, a different saint of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church is commemorated, and a special callsign is activated for this purpose

To obtain the Diploma it is necessary to establish : For European stations 4 QSO (SWL reports), and for stations outside Europe – 3 QSO (SWL reports) with different memorial callsigns dedicated to All Orthodox Saints.
For 2026, these callsigns are 6:
LZ 1426 EN       from 01.01.2026 until 28.02.2026
LZ 488 AM        from 01.03.2026 until 30.04.2026
LZ 370 TL           from 01.05.2026 until 30.06.2026
LZ 67 PP      from 01.07.2026 until 31.08.2026
LZ 936 BA        from 01.09.2026 until 31.10.2026
LZ 911 TD         from 01.11.2026 until 31.12.2026
The cost of the Diploma is 5 EUR and also it can be obtained free of charge in electronic form by e-mail.

QSL cards are not necessary, only an extract from the log.
For each year Diploma will be issued with a separate numbering: No / 2026 and etc.
Only memorial callsigns will be changed and Diploma can be obtained every year for QSO’s within period from January 01 until December 31 for the relevant year.
